Are You On The Right Bus?

Have you ever found yourself in a job, relationship or situation that you had a deep knowing was not right for you?

This is a sign that you may not be on the right bus.

“When you let go of how you think things SHOULD BE and embrace how it IS, your life will magically become the one you’ve been searching for”

If you haven’t ordered your copy of “What The Hell Are You Chasing“, here are the links …
pdf version | kindle version | hard copy

The reality is that when you are desperately chasing something, you’re actually pushing it away.

  • Do you really need to conquer new goals to feel good?
  • How is it that some people that have nothing compared to us are so much happier?
  • Why is it that we have such a need to be consumed with money and material things at the expense of happiness?
  • Isn’t it actually happiness that we are all chasing?

Isn’t it crazy that in the Western world, we are so ready to sacrifice so much happiness in order to make the money to buy things that we don’t really need and don’t really want to impress people we don’t even know or don’t even like?

So ask yourself, “What the hell am I chasing?” and “Am I on the right bus or am I on someone else’s bus?

Realising You’re On The Wrong Bus Is A Positive Step

Our brain often gets in the way and puts us on a bus we’re not meant to be on. This is when things start going wrong in different areas of our lives such as our relationships, money or our career.

These are just blessings in disguise, they are taps trying to get us back on the right path.
What you need to do is …

  1. STOP
  2. Change direction (you can’t steer a parked car)
  3. Back yourself

Too often, we make decisions based on the question, “will this make me more money?”
A Dolphin will ride the crest of a wave and let the power propel it forward whereas too many humans are 3 metres ahead of the wave, paddling frantically and not enjoying the journey.

In a study by a nurse of terminally ill patients, the top 3 regrets were:

  1. I wish I had helped more people
  2. I wish I didn’t work so hard
  3. I wish I was true to myself

REMEMBER: ‘Wisdom is the application of knowledge’, none of this means anything unless you do something about it. With no new actions, there are no new results, so make a decision to get on the right bus and start your wonderful journey.

Andrew – All that you say resonates with me. My own philosophy is “simplicity, integrity, congruity”. This is how I try to live my life. I have made major changes in my life over the past 5 years because I seriously began to live by these three words. It is not always an easy road, but it is rewarding. Right now I have a strong sense of what I want to do, and what I am trained to do (that is offering spiritual care to those at the end of life in palliative care). I am trying to wait patiently for the job to present itself, while at the same time I actively network and seek out the right place, but no luck yet. I am somewhat discouraged by this even as I take each next step as it presents itself to me.
    Thanks for your encouragement.
    Susan

Thanks for the reminder and the book was a great tool. And I am sooooo on the right bus. The wave is so powerful it’s almost scary, but I just breathe and go with it…so many people will benefit from this dream of mine…and it’s finally happening.
    Have a magical week everyone!

Hi Andrew, awesome message and thank you for the reminder.

I guess we had a similar story to some extent. I had a successful business and a house and pretty much everything I needed but wasn’t completely happy working long hours to make ends meet. I then had a massive change or “Flip” in my life. I call this my mid life adjustment! No crisis, just an adjustment.

Sold the business, sold the house and went on “me time” traveling and surfing, enjoying the ride on a day to day basis with only a backpack of belongings. Pretty much living in the now not knowing where I would end up the next night when I went to sleep.

Since then I have started a new business and found your book and website along the way. I believe that I AM on the right bus. My new business is about helping people as well, helping them find the power within themselves so they too can enjoy the beautiful ride of life.

I now live by Ride The Wave, riding the waves of life!

Thank you once again for what you have created.

    Cheers, Paul

Feel like most of my life I’ve been hopping on and off a whole bunch of buses. Each one taking me to new places, to meet new people and to gather new insights. I figure no trip was futile as they have directed me towards the right bus for me.

    Awesome video Andrew. Thanks.

    Maurice

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for a great message.

I think the story regarding the Business Man and the Mexican Fisherman illustrates the fear of not having Financial Security before stepping out, at least that is what it is for me. I have a good job and am reasonably well paid. I don’t dislike my job and sure it has it’s ups and downs but it is not my true purpose or destiny.

Like you I sold a business and moved from Sydney to Adelaide a few years back and took some time off to work out what it was I really wanted to do with my life. Like you, my desire is to help people find themselves, true happiness as well as a purpose for their lives. My current job allows me to work toward this goal while earning a reasonable income, but it also sometimes gets in the way of this as well. But stepping out without the financial backing, to travel, to learn and develop to do what I truly desire to do is a little scary.

I would be very interested to hear you thoughts about having the financial security behind you before stepping out to fulfil your dreams which may not always have a direct financial benefit to it.

    Thanks

    Jon

Andrew – your site, blog and videos are all so inspiring. Thank you for what you are giving/sharing and for what you continue to bring to the party.

I read somewhere once that ‘you don’t always get what you want but you do get what you need’ and in my experience, the timing is generally perfect!

I stumbled across your site and reading the blogs and comments from others made me smile and feel ‘at one’ with the choices I am making.

I’ve spent the last 23 years being a mum, partner and friend plus helping and supporting others through various fundraising efforts and supportive projects for war torn and natural disasters.

I’m going to be 50 at the end of this month and having spent the last 23 years being mum, giving of myself and helping others in business and through fundraising and supportive projects, I feel strongly that this is my time!

I’m rapidly evolving a mid-life celebration which involves selling my house, giving away my belongings and becoming an eco water gypsy! (living on a narrowboat and travelling the waterways of the UK). For the first time in my life I don’t have a plan (beyond selling up and getting the boat) and it’s so exciting!

Of the 3 regrets of the dying you listed I am confident that If I did nothing else with my life (unlikely) I have helped enough people and I am glad to have worked hard as it has paid off and served many people. Number 3 ‘I wish I’d have been true to myself’ is what drives my mid-life celebration and therefore, I will die a very happy woman.

Love and blessings to all. X

The best decision I ever made was choosing to follow my heart. It had little to do with what was right or wrong but everything to do with getting in tuned with ‘being’ me. I found this to be very liberating.
    Enjoy….

Thanks for sharing this Leesa. An inspiring story and I wish you all the best with this.

its a great question Jon. i really believe that with the right passion, you can start something on the side – learn the skills that are required to build a business around your passion, then gradually phase into it. you get a really strong inner feeling when the timing is right – and then you can dive right into it. For me – I chose to take the risk and dived into it, but I ‘felt’ 100% ready for this and knew I was supposed to do this. Learn to really listen to your intution and it will guide you – and maybe get serious about building your new business on the side (ie maybe look to build something that can replace your wage over the next 12 to 18 months)

    Andrew

Thanks for r timely reminder, Andrew. You’re right about the need to listen to your body. If you’re on the wrong bus, your body will tell you. If you don’t listen, it will tell you louder. If you ignore it, you will get sick…and maybe even die. I know…I did, because I didn’t take my body’s advice that I needed to get off the wrong bus.
